Community Christian School strives to develop academic excellence with a
Christ-centered viewpoint. CCS provides an unparalleled educational program in an exciting,
hands-on learning environment. Since our inception, academic excellence and scholastic
achievement have figured prominently at CCS. Both the national and Arkansas standards provide
a basic framework for all curriculum areas. CCS exceeds those standards while using them as
guidelines to ensure that all subjects are taught comprehensively. With a small student-teacher
ratio, individualized attention is given to each child's strengths and weaknesses. Community
Christian School shapes analytical thinkers willing and able to make a difference in God's world.
At CCS, we hire Christian teachers who love God, teaching and children. We do not tolerate
student misbehavior or disruptions. Because discipline is a key to effective learning, we insist on
it; therefore, we can spend most of our classroom time on actual instruction.
CCS uses the rigorous A Beka curriculum in grades K-8. These materials "reflect sensible theory
that is firmly anchored to practicality" (See the A Beka website at http://www.abeka.com). This curriculum
includes literacy, math, social studies and science. We also offer physical education, music, art,
health and drama. Biblical truths and principles are integrated into every subject.
In grades 9-12, CCS uses the A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum, which
is customized to the learning needs of each student. This curriculum allows each student to
progress independently instead of requiring all students in the class to work at the same pace.
The A.C.E. curriculum provides a "unique discipline" of personal goal setting, which encourages
responsibility and accountability, preparing students for a lifetime of achievement. (See the A.C.E.
website at http://www.aceministries.com)
Purposeful Design Bible curriculum is used in grades K-12. This inspiring curriculum is designed to
intentionally draw the hearts and minds of students to God as Creator and Sustainer of all of life. Students
are given an overview of the Bible with an emphasis on the attributes of God, biblical characters, the early
church, and what it means to know Jesus Christ and live for Him. Purposeful Design Bible curriculum also
offers challenging lessons throughout the grade levels emphasizing personal application alongside new
concepts, which challenges and inspires students to understand and adopt deeper levels of living out
their faith.
CCS participates in a national norm assessment through the Association of Christian Schools,
International (ACSI). TerraNova 3, ACSI Edition Achievement Test is administered to all
grades. Our school has consistently scored well above the national average.
